Youth Series Continues In 2010 Provided by The Arts Council for Chautauqua County |
| |
The Reg Lenna Civic Center’s Youth Series continues with 2 performances within days of each other.
Drew The Fool kicks off the new year with a lively show. On Thursday January 28 at 10am, Drew will reinvent the ancient art of brilliant bumbling. Inspired by a thousands-of-years old tradition of royal jesters, vaudeville eccentrics, silent film comedians, animated cartoons, theatrical clowns, and imperfect humans everywhere, Drew offers amusement relevant for today‘s audiences by giving them laughter built on a range of human emotions, from joy to fear to despair and back to joy again. Drew returns on Saturday January 30 at 2pm with a show for the entire family.
Less than a week later, in a co-production with Lucille Ball Little Theatre, the Reg will present Willa Cather’s “My Antonia” on Friday February 5 at 10am. The lives of several immigrant families are chronicled as they move to Nebraska to begin anew. The heart and soul of this work is Antonia Shimerda, who goes from young girl to married mother through the course of the story.
"My Antonia" is presented live by a cast of Chautauqua County performers. This school-day performance is open to the community. High school students are encouraged to attend. A family performance will be presented on February 5 at 8pm. Order tickets for both shows by calling 716-484-7070.
This event is made possible by support from The Big Read and Chautauqua Community Region Foundation. The Reg Lenna Civic Center is located at 116 East Third Street in Jamestown. The Youth Series is presented with additional support from The New York State Council On The Arts and The Arts Council For Chautauqua County. Read more at www.reglenna.com.
