Relieving Wedding Day Stress

Relieving Wedding Day StressWedding day is stressful, particularly so for brides. Most brides have spent months planning, contacting caterers, tweaking the guest list, choosing flowers, pouring over song lists, tasting cakes, etc… All that work can break down even the most focused and toughest brides.

So it’s no wonder that when the wedding day finally arrives, most brides are on stress overload, which is probably why a lot of brides almost break down completely at even the smallest of wedding day problems.

Now you can’t make sure that everything on your wedding day will go off without a hitch, but what you can do is take steps to be as prepared as possible to help reduce the stress you’re bound to feel on your wedding day.

• The first most important thing a bride can do to relieve wedding day stress is to eat breakfast. The majority of brides skip breakfast on their wedding day, perhaps because of a busy schedule or that they are just too nervous to eat. But skipping breakfast is a sure way to be irritable and extra nervous, not to mention a great way to give yourself a headache. If you’re just too nervous to eat a big breakfast, try eating smaller portions throughout the morning to ensure that there is something in your stomach.

• Keep yourself hydrated. One thing a lot of brides have in common is their intake of booze goes up on the day of and surrounding the wedding. Whether you’re drinking or not, be sure to drink plenty of water on the day of and the day before your wedding. Being dehydrated will not only make you feel sick, it will also add an extra layer of stress onto an already stressful day.

• Avoid foods that can make you bloated. It’s a good idea to avoid dairy products for at least a week before your wedding day. Feeling bloated will jus make you more irritable than you already are. If there are foods you know make you bloated make sure you avoid them for at least a week before your wedding day.

• Get some sleep. No one has to convince you of how important it is to get a good night sleep before your wedding day, but getting that sleep may be something else entirely. You may want to consider having a sleeping aid on the ready for the night before your wedding just in case you are having trouble getting to sleep, and no, alcohol is not a sleeping aid. It can in fact, disrupt your sleep at a time when you need sleep more than ever.

But the best way to relieve stress on your wedding day is to make sure everything is done by your wedding day. Too many brides try to fit in the last few things that need to be done, on the wedding day. That is only going to crank up the stress level. If you have everything done, you’ll have the extra time to take care of the things that come up unexpectedly. The more you have done before the wedding day the less you’ll have to think about on your wedding day. The only thing left for you to do is to get down the aisle. The rest, as they say, will be history.
