(New Orleans, LA) -- Researchers attempted to allay concerns about potential cancer risks when taking cholesterol fighting drugs Vytorin and Zetia. Others are urging doctors to exercise caution when prescribing the drugs until more tests can be conducted on the safety of the medications. Hundreds of cardiologists attended the American Heart Association's panel discussion on the safety of the drugs Wednesday. Concerns about a cancer link surfaced in July when a study revealed a significant number of cancer cases among patients taking Vytorin than those taking a placebo. |
