Burlington Named Healthiest City in U.S.
(Burlington, VT) -- Burlington, Vermont, has been deemed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as the healthiest city in the U.S. The agency says 92-percent of the city's population say they're in good or great health. It's among the top cities when it comes to exercise and lowest in obesities, diabetes and other forms of bad health. The unhealthiest is Huntington, West Virginia. Burlington is younger, with an average age of 37 compared to 40 in Huntington. Financially, Burlington is better off with just eight percent living at the poverty level, with 19 percent of the population in Huntington at the poverty level. Nearly 40 percent of Burlington area residents have at least a bachelor's degree, while only 15 percent of those in Huntington do.< |
