Republicans Won't Relent In Healthcare Debate
(Washington, DC) -- Republicans are not giving any ground in the ongoing debate over healthcare reform. Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell calls Democratic legislation a "health spending bill" and says it should be scrapped. As the Senate opened for the week, the Kentucky Republican argued the process should "start over" and be focused on controlling healthcare costs. At a campaign-style rally in Pennsylvania, President Obama insisted Republicans had their chance when they controlled Congress and the White House. He said, quote, "You had ten years; what happened, what were you doing?" Obama is pushing Congress to finalize healthcare reform in the coming weeks. The issue stalled after the House and Senate passed different healthcare reform bills last year. |
